On the Newsweek website I found this fascinating article examining the differences in how McCain and Obama wear their ties. Obama wears a slightly casual four-in-hand knot. McCain wears a classic, more complex Windsor knot. The article goes into entertaining detail about the motivations behind the differences.Note, I have no idea if the above picture reflects those particular knots. I'm a single girl. I know nothing about men's neckwear. I'm also not a sailor, so visually identifying the differences between knots is beyond me.
